Our PrimeSource
TotalCare software is undergoing refinements to improve
the delivery of Electronic Health Records in our Medical
Records department. Our team of IT experts has been
putting the finishing touches on the second version
of the software after extensive testing. The new version
is faster, more accurate, better looking and easier
to use than ever before.
100,000 Records Scanned
to Date
PrimeSource TotalCare, powered by LinkSource Manager,
our proprietary Electronic Health Record (EHR) management
system is already in its second release. Since its
inception earlier this year, the project has allowed
Medical Records to begin the transition to paperless.
According to Project Manager Mike Scollon, the team
is averaging an input of 2000 pages of EHR per week.
So far the Medical Records team
has scanned over 100,000 records!
Meeting
Goals
The goal of scanning is to keep up with the influx of
incoming records as well as scanning back one year.
By the end of 2009, we should have all of 2009 in our
system electronically, as well as all of 2008. The teams
have the goal in sight and feel it’s completely
within reason.
Better All The Time
As the second release goes into production, the IT team
is already looking to implement many more changes in
the near future. The first initiative is to deploy portrait-style
monitors to the intake team. These special purpose monitors
allow viewing of a full page top to bottom instead of
the traditional wide monitor. The TotalCare software
has
been optimized for portrait viewing and it really makes
documents easy to read and maneuver. The second initiative
is to move to providing the TotalCare Archive Viewer
tothe teams in the home office that need direct access
to records- such as billing. This will allow Associates
to access documents directly from their desks- at the
touch of abutton. Gone will be the days of requesting
a document and searching through file cabinets to find
it. It will be as simple as click- and display.
